The
AHRC is collaborating with BBC TV on a seminar that brings together BBC
commissioning and editorial staff with arts and humanities researchers
specialising or with interests in questions around ‘Scottishness’ and
Scottish identity/identities. The BBC is in the planning stages of commissioning
programmes to mark this important moment in the history of Scotland and
in the history of its relationship with the UK and the wider world.
They are keen to ensure that their
coverage includes ideas that reflect the latest research on questions of
Scottish historical, cultural and artistic identity while recognising
its dynamic and contested nature. This event will enable BBC
commissioning staff to meet a range of academics specialising in these
particular fields and to discuss the latest research with a view to
shaping and influencing their television coverage.
