When? Monday 28th May
Where? University of Oxford
What? The next think tank event will respond particularly to the new landscape of Doctoral Training Centres and cross-HEI consortia, and to policy arising from the impact agenda. Its key themes will be:
- Collaborating in consortia - including in the development of funding bids.
- Embedding impact in researcher development - with a special focus on linking RCUK and REF ‘impacts’ and on how best to support PGRs and ECRs in their development of ‘impactful’ research projects.
- Preparing PGRs for careers in academia - including in terms of the development of a skills ‘tool-kit’ for PGRs and ECRs, perhaps developed through HE-based ‘internships’.
Speakers at the ASHPIT Think Tank event will include representatives of the Research Councils, as well as academics and researcher developers; we hope that the event will provide a useful forum for discussion of some of the most important facets of those topics.
The organisers are particularly keen to extend the invitation to this event to academic staff as well as researcher developers to ensure an academic input into group discussion of all three of these important areas of policy and practice. Attendance at think tanks is free and open to anyone interested in ASH-discipline research and researcher development.
