The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) has launched Round 5 of its fellowships programme.
The programme provides research training fellowships to support the development of outstanding individuals to become the health research leaders of the future.
Support is available for training in clinical and applied health research, including social care research. Proposals must have clear potential for benefitting patients and the public within five years of completion.
Research can involve:
Patients.
Samples or data from patients.
People who are not patients.
Populations.
Health technology assessment.
Health services research.
For Round 5, NIHR particularly welcomes applications that focus on population-based research. NIHR is also prepared to support research into medical education.
The following four levels of Fellowship are available:
Doctoral Research Fellowship (NIHR-DRF).
Post-Doctoral Fellowship (NIHR-PDF).
Career Development Fellowship (NIHR-CDF).
Senior Research Fellowship (NIHR-SRF).
Research and Development budgets are devolved. Potential applicants based outside of England must inform their local R&D office of their intention to submit an application, and seek advice. Researchers from Scotland may only apply under the Senior Research Fellowship scheme.
All applications must be submitted by the deadline of 18 January 2012.
