The University will sponsor two Rising Star Fellowships (RSF) for early career researchers; these will be awarded competitively to current Post-Doctoral Research Fellows/Associates for a project of 6 months duration starting 1st October 2011.
RSFs will provide a foundation from which the individual Fellows can build an independent research career, and the opportunity to undertake a pilot research project in St Andrews in advance of their applying for independent research funding in their chosen topic.
Eligibility: the Fellowships can only be held at St Andrews and successful applicants will be employees of the University of St Andrews. Applicants must be an existing PDRA or RF and their application must be supported by the St Andrews’ PI in whose laboratory they would hold the Fellowship.
Research Topics: the pilot project proposed should address an identified need, be novel and covered under the remit of the EPSRC’s themes – see http://www.epsrc.ac.uk/ourportfolio/themes/Pages/default.aspx.
Ideally the project should be directed at providing basic data and/or results from which a new, independent grant application could be submitted by the Fellow.
Application forms: requests by e-mail to ktcdesk@st-andrews.ac.uk
